Dr Chris Jones is the national secretary of the AEVA, and WA branch chair. Formally trained in chemistry and plant sciences, Chris took an interest in battery storage early on, living off grid in southern Queensland back when solar panels were $10 a watt. In 2010 he rode a friend's electric bicycle in Vancouver, Canada, and was convinced electric two-wheelers were the future. He set about building his first bike, Voltron which taught him everything he needed to know about building a far better bike, Voltron Evo. This bike dominated the electric class of the FX Superbikes, and to this day remains the fastest EV in the country. A small business was spun off from this where Chris designs and builds high powered battery packs for niche applications, primarily performance bikes and cars. Chris worked as a research officer at Cape Bouvard Technologies for three years, compiling a wealth of knowledge around batteries, EVs, markets and trends.
